(We don't know too much of her living life, she did let Nathanos Marris into the Farstriders and believing in the need for tolerance with the rest of the world.)

But you know.) Sylvanas as the main Alliance character as someone who both likes the High Elves (And not a fan of how they just keep getting screw over.) and of Sylvanas. I mean Gilneas went beyond, and built a wall to keep the world out. (AKA: The sour point of just leaving the Alliance following the Second War and it harming the attempts to rally against the Legion. I do like the HE-NE narrative and all the issues that come from it. Assuming the high elves are a bigger part of the narrative, you could also use Stormwind as the new source for Garithos-like figures, given that the nation is the most bitter about the elves leaving, these Alliance officials would then be frequent thorns in the side during the Alliance campaign and set the stage for an Alt-WoW. Assuming Thrall's still got the same tutorial mission, just imagine how those events look from his perspective: flee the war-torn Eastern Kingdoms, land and get attacked by a Sea Witch, finally find land only to be directly attacked by freaking demons. The Sunwell also works, but I don't want to crib too much from your Reforged timeline.

Why would Terenas and the others listen to the High Elves who took all the support he offered and then stormed out in a huff over not being defended "well enough", just because some new purple elves arrive alongside orcs (of all things!) spouting whispers of doom? Thus begins a campaign where the High Elf character plus a few important human characters like Jaina, Arthas, or Uther are going around attempting to prepare for the threat without having the full support of the Alliance or even being actively hindered by it.Īs an alternative spot for a final battle, I suggest the Dark Portal itself, with Archimonde essentially looking to both plug himself directly into that gateway's connection and feed directly from the Twisting Nether to empower himself and open a portal big enough for the real Legion forces to come through at the same time. The problem is, however, that they just left the Alliance. Upon receiving word, Anasterian and the High Elf hierarchy get serious very fast, as they realize the real scope of the threat now baring down upon the Eastern Kingdoms. The intro mission for the Alt-Alliance campaign would then actually center upon a High Elf character (Kael'thas? Sylvanas?) coming across the first landing parties of the Scourge and Legion, as well as hearing the warnings of the night elves. Upon seeing this, the Horde and Sentinels send a few forces back east in an attempt to warn the Alliance and get them to fight the Legion both there and potentially send reinforcements to Kalimdor.

This ends up denying Archimonde the power he so craved, even if he got earlier revenge against the night elves. Still, I think I can add that in with a slight revision:įor whatever reason, Archimonde and his forces turn east and look to claim the power of the various arcane sites there, perhaps because he is angry that the Scourge Leader(s) defied his orders in a battle against Tyrande and Malfurion, with the latter being able to sabotage the summoning ritual and seal off the Well of Eternity from Archimonde even if they couldn't stop a partial siphoning from summoning him. Oops, sorry, forgot about the HE-NE narrative thread from earlier in the proposal. I'm unsure about is the Well being used to summon Archimonde given he seemingly wanted to absorb it for its power in canon and I confess some confusion as to why Thrall sails West, did Medivh send him to be reinforcements for the NE? I confess given the original idea was the HE working with the NE, this is quite a switch, but also very interesting and does work well for giving the Orcs a solid and proper redemption arc and also showing the more shitty aspects of the Alliance, so kudos! OK this is super awesome and well thought out, great idea with the wisps actually being corruptable to the point where they can be directed against the Night Elves and also on using the whole Undead thing as a means to turn Fandrel to their side, that is super clever! It makes sense that spectral soldiers would pose a problem, even after ten thousand years the NE haven't managed to remove the ghosts in many areas of the land, so while they might disperse them for a time, they just reform in time and return.
